Dear jc, I did not refer to W. Post but what Cohen wrote on the Post. (The mainstream media: The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Los Angeles Time, ABC, CBS CNN, NBC, MSNBC, PBS, Yahoo News, BBC, The Guardian etc.) Fox, NY Post, DM Online, RT seem to be somewhat exceptions. Surprisingly, these days WAPO is missing in news.google.com!
In the run-up to the 2003 Invasion of Iraq, Cohen was a member of Committee for the Liberation of Iraq, a group of prominent persons who pressed for an invasion. Cohen may also have advocated regime change in Iran. On 2 March 2007, Cohen was appointed by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to serve as Counselor of the State Department under George W. Bush administration and served from 2007-2009. Cohen was a leading voice of opposition to Trump among former GOP national security officials during the campaign. During his campaign, Donald Trump outlined numerous foreign policies that depart dramatically from those of President Obama — and long-standing U.S. positions in some cases. Mainly: "The United States is going to abandon its decades of policies promoting regime change in countries around the world," Trump told a rally in Fayetteville in the US state of North Carolina. “We will stop racing to topple foreign regimes that we know nothing about that we shouldn’t be involved with. This destructive cycle of intervention and chaos must finally come to an end.” The president-elect Trump gave 'a commitment to engage the use of military forces only when it is in the…interests of the United States.' "We want to strengthen old friendships and seek out new friendships… … We seek harmony and goodwill among the nations of the world,” he said. He has been working diligently on his campaign promises. Hoping for the best and peace in the world. Last December, the United States and nearly 200 other countries adopted the world’s first pact to limit emissions of gases that nearly all scientists say are warming the planet. Trump — who has called climate change a "hoax" — has vowed to renegotiate the deal. Need to study more on this Climate Change and Global Warming. Eliot Cohen is an accomplished Professor in the US, and reportedly, an expert on the Middle East. I remember him best as a strong proponent of the Toppling and Replacement of Saddam. We all know how that went. Sadly, I believe that the West is quite unaware of the intricacies of the Middle East. Personally, I am hopeful that the Donald will NOT get into unprovoked wars with other nations. jc
