Pathetic City public transport Panaji the capital of Goa been neglected for years.
Now, they are taking about rapid transport system, intra-city hop on hop off buses etc if they come to power What stopped them doing it in last 5 years or for last 20 years for that matter? In the past too, they were boasting about city mobility plan, Imagine Panaji project etc but nothing happened. Goa being tourist destination, there are no city buses after 9, oh yes, there is one at 9.30pm but very irregular, often don’t ply for whole week or so. Rickshaws too non available after 8.45pm, if you are lucky to find one, you will be charge at premium almost double the normal fare. They are allowed to charge 25% extra after 11pm but their night charges start after 7pm that too at premium. Motorcycle pilots too fleecing commuters no one charging as per RTO approved tariff e.g. Panaji stand to Miramar beach charges are Rs.35 but they will charge Rs.70 or more. On top, Govt gives them Rs.2000 as monthly pension allowance Who to complain, where to complain? Oh, there is SMS Complaint service which is nothing but a gimmick. Sometime it says ‘dept service not available, try after sometime’ or getting replies saying Jbox error, Connect Socket error, Execute Java error etc Talking about city buses, there is no point writing lengthy articles with supporting photographic evidences. I would only request City MLA, Ex MLA Parrikar, City Mayor, City corporators, CCP commissioner, Traffic cops etc to try travelling in the city buses one day and get FIR yourselves or else you will never understand the commuters woes.
