>From our ANI Correspondent

Panaji, May 21: The Congress party released its manifesto for the
forthcoming Assembly polls in Goa here today, promising to give a
responsive and responsible government if elected.

The manifesto appeals to the people of the State to vote for the
Congress candidates on June 2 in order to take forward the
developmental works.

Manifesto committee chairman Uday Bhembre said the people of Goa were
the centre point for the party, and the poll strategy was carved out
accordingly.

It further promises to preserve the culture, monuments, heritage,
ecology and environment of the State.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and
Technology, and Ocean Development Kapil Sibal released the manifesto,
which has been published in English, Konkani and Marathi.

Goa Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane, All India Congress Committee
(AICC) General Secretary Margaret Alva, Nationalist Congress Party
(NCP) General Secretary Gurunath Kulkarni, Goa Pradesh Congress
Committee President Ravi Naik were present on the occasion among
others.

Polling for the 40-seat State Assembly will be held on June 2.
Counting of votes will take place on June 5, with the results expected

The Election Commission has fixed June 8 as the date before which the
election process will be completed.

Comment: Seems to me, a little too late; why does it have to take an
election to make these promises ? These issues should have been taken
care of ? Yes/No ?
