Similarly, around this time, there could be so called 'paid news', 'paid-rumour
mongers' etc
Again, there can be two types of 'paid news' one just to paint rosy pictures of
one individual
and the other not to report one individual or party or report about every one
except one.

If we open today's front page of H, we will see there is a 20cmsx7cols wide
news item by
Vishali Bharadwaj appeared in the middle of the front page titled 'A MAN OF
VISION NEEDED FOR
PROGRESS OF CORTALIM' with Mauvin Godhinho pic everything was pro-Mauvin
indirectly
criticising the present MLA Mathiny Saldanha.

Again, Fr. Conceisao D' Silva was seen inaugurating Mavin's election office at
Cansaulim on
21/5/07 (few days earlier at Cortalim) and even seen giving speech from the
stage.
It was also understood, that the said office was forced to close down on the
very next day as
it was illegal or unlicensed.

But the news item in H mentioned every one names on the dais except Fr.
Conceisao.
Check this out..

[Goanet] Election time in Goa...

It's election time in Goa. It seems to me that this time, with the spurt in
the number of new cable-news operations, and newspapers, various sections
of the media are willing to take a much more blatantly partisan stand
towards various politicians and parties.

What do the others feel? One could perceive Goa Doot's clear pro-BJP slant;
the Goa Observer's anti-Churchill, anti-BJP (and pro-Congress colours),
Herald's pro-Churchill, mildly pro-Congress line; Goa 365 (and
particularly Julio
Da Silva's) pro-BJP, pro-Churchill and anti-Congress tirades; and some other
cable TV's operators (Waman Prabhu's for instance) BJP-supportive and
strongly Parrikar-backing tendency.

>From what I could recall, in no election so far has the media been so
partisan. If this is the case, what are the factors involved? Just the
increase in competitive pressures? Attempts at re-shaping the media within
Goa?

Would the others agree? FN
