It is Fishy fishy The Defence Minister has resigned the most prestigious post in the Council of Minister. It may be long before another Goan comes close to occupying such a position of honour even in distant future
His moving to Goa as the C,M. is to salvage his pride and standing in the BJP hierarchy. There was no a spectacular victory as desired by P.M. The BJP is routed in Goa losing CM , 7 Ministers and all those independents who made a common cause with it. He gloats over vote share, a new criteria to legitimize his back door acts and bolster his disappointment In the interview he say he .loves Goa and relishes the fish menu. He was ‘”fish out of water in Delhi, but now in Goa he can be all the fish he wants” In Delhi there are fish gaddas every where in the evenings like of which is not seen even in isolation.That is the main reason for him to take the seat of power in Goa and abandon his post in Delhi .Parikar may be fortunate and privileged to enjoy the best of fish menu, Most of the Goans whose daily diet or staple food consists of fish and rice, find to their utter disappointment that fish has flown out of his hands due to escalating prices far and beyond and even the ordinary variety of fish is untouchable Mr. CM the Govt subsidizes petrol for trawlers and also pays salaries to boat owners during the ban period in monsoons. What benefit does the average Goan derive from this appeasing act of benevolence at public costs ?No quantity of the catch is ever provided for public at subsidized rates to make sense of subsidies It is a misplaced priority to keep some fish magnets in good humour.
