I am sorry to hear the death of Mrs.Eugenia the mother of footballer Francis de Souza. My association with that family was from childhood. Newton, Nelson Rolland and Francis were my companions at Lourdes Convent where we all did our primary education and later at Monte de Guirim where some of her sons studied along with me. But most time we met at Tollem near Peggy's corner for a football game. As a child I used to visit her house at sequira vaddo sometimes and was attracted by her sweet nature and smiles.One would meet her for mass early in the morning at Lourdes convent. Soft spoken but daring woman who did not get scared to bring her children after the death of her husband. She brought all of them with iron hand and instilled in them the fear of God. The hand that rocked the cradle rules the world. She had a very good name in the locality. I do not think she ever fought with anyone or rather anyone ever thought of fighting with her. She was a simple lady, and her face full of smiles .She always wished people, inquired about them. She was a very loving person. Everybody in Sequeira vaddo and sonarbhatt knew her as a good person.
