(Google mail) In the early 1980s while editing and producing the Goan Association UK quarterly newsletter on a manual typewriter that used to go tock tock tock tring into the night waking the family and neighbourhood, it was a relief to my fingers, patience and ears to handle various quieter softer electric typewriters. It was during this period I got to know the late Mr Joel Dsouza of Assagao, Ace Lensman and photographer for GOA Today who in conversation suggested that I open a gmail account as it was excellent for storage especially colour photographs. Little did I know winding the clock fast forward I would have to do this today. I did not know that Gmail meant Google Mail. When I got my first computer tapping the keyboard was like taking the first driving lesson as you pulled from the kerb, you tapped each button with anxiety thinking the machine might blow up, Java script had not developed, Dial up internet was expensive and Google was the best search engine. I was on Pipex when I came across Goanet with its excellent methodical search and filing system by accident. This was when [email protected] a gateway on the superhighway through goanet like a daisy chain connected with our people across the world was opened. Joel RIP, wish I had listened to you and done this a few years ago. May I also take this opportunity to acknowledge the contribution on goanet by JC who passed away recently .We have had many private emails on the superhighway over the years. Since Orange Email was first introduced, a wide variety of providers have launched offering free email services with more advanced functionality. As a result, the number of Orange Email users has been in decline. Orange have therefore decided to close Email on 31 May 2017, providing an opportunity to move to a better email experience, and we can focus on providing our customers with the best possible products and services. Customers on some legacy Orange Home Broadband and Orange mobile plans were given a free email address.
