Why the need?
* To preserve the uniqueness of blended Goan culture.
* For feasts, Carnivals and outdoor public programmes.
* To have more wind instrument players.
* Such players are in great demand due to shortages.
* To create another source of employment. (Private groups,
defence bands, police bands, para-military bands, school
band, teachers, dance bands, instrumentalists in orchestras
and bands, chamber music groups, quartets, quintets, etc.)
* Retain Goan musical knowledge (harmony, sight reading)
* A universal language to keep human society glued, united.
What can be done?
* Introduce compulsory music (on wind instruments).
* This can be done in schools, from Std V.
* School bands can be formed; annual State competitions.
* Start a social service organisation to train.
* Focus on unemployed talented youth and create jobs.
What help and initiatives are needed?
* Support of State Government or Diocesan Board of Education
* Cooperation of parents to motivate children.
* Volunteers to manage the training etc.
* Logistic support.
* Positive constructive criticism needed, not crab mentality.
