The Goa Police Manual is long overdue. Our very proactive DGP Dr Muktesh Chander must be given full autonomy in the appointment, promotion and transfer of police personnel.
Ruling Ministers and MLAs hand-picking officers of their choice is in blatant violation of the Supreme Court directive that the police force should be insulated from political machinations. The current selective vicious targeting of Opposition MLA Digambar Kamat only exposes that the BJP wants the Goa police to act as political pimps and that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is back to his old dirty tricks again. This has to be strongly condemned.
