Cabmen want ‘illegal’ outer state taxis stopped- H
http://www.epaperoheraldo.in/Details.aspx?id=27872&boxid=4657714&uid=&dat=5/5/2017 *Comments for kind favour of publication.* *The taxi impasse in Goa is the creation of the successive governments and the blame should be landed at the door-steps of the Government. Taxis must be regulated by the government on do or die basis. Taxis must be metered and fares fixed as according to the rise and fall of petrol/diesel prices. Hotels etc must not be allowed to set taxi fares or be involved in any manner in this trade. A hotel should be entitled to have its own transportation system for its guests and taximen should not be allowed to interfere with the hotel managements. A person wanting to engage a taxi-cab should be able to pay the metered fare, waiting time included with. Anyone should be able to call the taxi-cab control room and get the closest cab to his location diverted so that there is no extra charge. The meter must go down after the passenger is seated in the cab. This is the universal modus operandi. Taxi-men in Goa have created a bad name for themselves and they are responsible for this. No outside cabs should be allowed to operate in Goa. If the Goa Taxi-men union do not fall in line, then Ola and Uber et al will walk in. Goan citizenry is cheesed off with the extortionist behaviour of Goa’s taxi-men. There is no question that Goa’s Taxi industry must be protected to the hilt as every outsider has been taking Goans for a jolly good ride with the blessings of corrupt politicians. The advice to Taxi-men is not to put their faith in politicians. If you do, you will lose. Go for absolute standardization of Goa’s taxi system so that the taximen are happy as also the passengers.* *Floriano Lobo Spokesperson Goa Su-Raaj Party-GSRP.* *Mob: 9890470896 * *http://www.goasu-raj.com/gen/display_commentsOnNews_data.asp?pg=3 <http://www.goasu-raj.com/gen/display_commentsOnNews_data.asp?pg=3>*
