ESG to conduct workshop on Film Appreciation


* Three days of watching the best Indian and foreign films with experts

The Entertainment Society of Goa will organize a three-day workshop, 
beginning June 8-10, 2007, from 10.00am to 6.00pm with the aim of 
introducing citizens of Goa to the medium of varied audiovisual. Organised 
through prepared programs of lectures and screenings, this initiative is 
intended to be a forward movement in promoting film culture in Goa. The 
workshop will serve as a channel for students, common man, film enthusiast, 
film journalist, mass communication and theatre students and the people of 
Goa as an introduction into the various aspects of film and television 
media.

Course outline:
The course will consist of an intensive three-day programme delivered by 
ex-Dean of FTII (Film & Television Institute of India, Pune) Shri Samar 
Nakhate. Participants will be offered an excellent opportunity to gain an 
overview in the field of Film Appreciation through lectures combined with 
informal discussion periods. Admission is open to all; age and 
qualifications no bar, including film critics, journalists, film 
researchers, Govt. officials handling films and others interested in film 
studies.
Some of the topics to be discussed will include elements of film 
appreciation, history and language of cinema, film and traditional art 
forms, art v/s commercial cinema, changing technology of cinema, government 
policies and so on.

Course details:
The course will be held at The Entertainment Society of Goa, Old GMC 
Heritage Precinct, D.B.Marg, Panjim. The course is available for a fee of Rs 
600, which will include lunch and tea/coffee on all three days. Seats will 
be booked on first-come-first-basis for a maximum of 45 participants only.
