where you can almost touch the wheels of a plane (as it lands) if your
standing on a car.>

My thoughts precisely! I too have seen pictures of 747s landing etc at this
place. But didnt know where it was located.

Btw, here there is more noise from Navy's vintage planes and choppers  than
from commercial flights.

2.< Phil, I don't quite understand how a B747-400 can land on a 7150' runway
in St Maarten but cannot land on Dabolim's 7850' airstrip. Many months ago
when we talked about runway lengths I do recall there was a discussion about
the Dabolim runway being extended to over 10000' to support Seabird
(Karwar).>

I think they CAN land, Bosco. But it probably doesnt happen too often. Only
chartered flights would operate them to Goa. Our local media dont make any
deal about the goings on at Dabolim/Mopa except in well-worn ways so the
geneal public is in the dark when it happens.
