------------------------------------------------------- CONVENTION OF THE GOAN DIASPORA FROM GOA INTO THE WORLD Lisbon, Portugal June 15-17, 2007 Details at: http://www.goacom.org/casa-de-goa/noticias.html -------------------------------------------------------
1. <I suppose that means you are never going to Maho Beach in St Maarten where you can almost touch the wheels of a plane (as it lands) if your standing on a car.> My thoughts precisely! I too have seen pictures of 747s landing etc at this place. But didnt know where it was located. Btw, here there is more noise from Navy's vintage planes and choppers than from commercial flights. 2.< Phil, I don't quite understand how a B747-400 can land on a 7150' runway in St Maarten but cannot land on Dabolim's 7850' airstrip. Many months ago when we talked about runway lengths I do recall there was a discussion about the Dabolim runway being extended to over 10000' to support Seabird (Karwar).> I think they CAN land, Bosco. But it probably doesnt happen too often. Only chartered flights would operate them to Goa. Our local media dont make any deal about the goings on at Dabolim/Mopa except in well-worn ways so the geneal public is in the dark when it happens. ------------------------------------------------------- Goanet recommends, and is proud to be associated with, 'Domnic's Goa' - A nostalgic romp through a bygone era.
