This is my follow-up post on the Goa Urban Bank subject matter. This is not to support one side or the other but to once again express my sheer disappointment at what is happening. Maybe I am a bit late to say this, but as the expression goes, it is better late than never. I was disillusioned when attempts were made to disrespect the mandate and impose their own panel from Day one itself. One of Dr. Govind Kamat’s panellists who happened to meet me at the Indoor stadium, Campal soon after election results were out in fact bragged that two Directors would be nominated and Govind Kamat would head the Board. Though I had supported couple of candidates from this panel who were known to me, I was taken aback by this kind of approach which showed complete lack of grace. Now we are being given justifications and rationalisations. That this unlawful act of nominating two Directors to the Goa Urban Board is necessary for the welfare of the bank, etc etc. Un-existing laws are now being cited. As if we are a bunch of unread fools who do not know to discern what is wrong and what is right. And we have to accept everything that the Government does and must fall in line with it. A couple of days back, I was with another doctor who told me how displeased he was with all this. A pharmacist next door too expressed his rage. Sorry to say this but Govind Kamat and his panelists have not covered themselves in grace. If they think what they have done is right, they need to walk in the streets, speak to the people and hear what their opinion is. They will get a perfect picture. The Government, on its part, should not meddle any further.
