A further anecdote: one day, back in the previous millenium, the former captain of SCI's passenger ship TSS Nancowry came to my house. I let him see a small jar of pickles I had just made, and he said "oh yeah, you, a non-Indian, think you can make pickles?". Then I went shopping for dinner, when I came back, the jar was empty. "Quite good actually", he declared. Captain (...) Singh must have been very hungry ...
