... with a couple of hours on my hands, I usually stop by at DogEars.Etc
(in the lane connecting Hospicio with Rua Abade Faria) these days. Their
second-hand books are particularly attractive. This is what I picked up
yesterday:

* The HarperCollins Book of New Indian Fiction
   (Contemporary writing in English) Rs
 50:00
* The King in Exile: The Fall of the Royal Family
of Burma (Sudha Shah) hb 456 pp. Rs 150:00
* English History Part II: Modern English History
(148501939) by James H Gense, SJ of
St Xavier's High School, Bombay. 1949
Without cover. Interesting Catholic worldview Rs 50:00
* Ashoka: Lion of Maurya: Ashok K Banker
(Guess you know of Banker's Goa ... also termed
  "Portuguese" connect)
Rs 50:00
* Colour Photography by Christopher Trent
  1962/reprinted 1969. Almost all processes
  described are extinct. Interesting. Rs
 20:00
* A Paean to an Ophthalmologist: Prof Dr
Gama Pinto. Apart from being a Saligaokar
recognised in Portugal and Europe, this is a
rare book now and even the author doesn't have
  copies of it.
        Rs 50:00

Some of these will end up on the shelves of my Goa book collection, started
circa 1983. There were quite a few catchy fiction titles, but then there's
a limit on how much one can carry (away). FN
