It was a very successful and enjoyable (by all) celebration of the
feast of the Holy Spirit and Social gathering last Sunday. Under the
dynamic presidency of Noel Correia a young professional and his Team
Spirit 2007 committee, it turned out to be one of the most memorable
functions in the long and chequered history of the Association.

The highlights were:
A Dekni dance in native Goan dress
A Corredinho in Portuguese finery
A live band that was attune to every mood of the crowd of 350
Great tasting and plentiful snacks and food
A skilled MC in Ivan D'Lima
Lots and lots of prizes
and all that for $21 per person only

The lovely Susanna Corrieia from Panjim, the Prseident wife organized
the Dekni exhibition and so skilled at it she was, except when the
names of the dancers were called, one would have never known that they
consisted of teenage Sri Lankans, Chinese and Caucasians besides
Goans, thus reflecting the diversity of Toronto. And they did it so
well.

Effie Coelho of Curtorim trained the Dekni dancers who pretty as they
were, could not have been made more beautiful than in their fine Goan
saris and "kapods", leaping in time to the lilting music making one
feel one was on the virgin beaches of Velsao, Majorda or Fattrade.

And for the next term our very own Goan author and dapper man about
town Silviano Barbosa has been handed the gauntlet of the Presidency.
May he make it even better next year.

Viva Shasticars, Viva Goencars.
