CONVENTION OF THE GOAN DIASPORA FROM GOA INTO THE WORLD

Khoro Goenkars ani khori Goikanns are busy with the elections, currently
underway in Goa. Some are likely prematurely celebrating their candidates'
victory - It is now or never! Likely Goa's reserve of feni ani urak is getting
depleted.

A few native and global Goemcars may be busy lighting pontis ani candles,
hoping the salvation of Goa ani Goans is at hand.:=))

This global Goan was pondering the following report of John Mascarenhas. To
add to the skill and advice of the "Toastmaster" (see below), one's
presentation definitely needs "sizzle". But if there is no steak (substance),
sizzle will not get one too far or too long or receive a big applause.

I will not opine whether Goans have a natural trait for more sizzle or more
steak. Some Goanetters are stand-outs in steaks, and some should be awarded
the title of "king" and "queen" of melodrama. Yet, the toastmaster points out,
those with steak need the sizzle; and those with sizzle need the steak. The
combination is a lot more difficult than appears on the surface.

Another aspect of Goans which likely toastmasters already know. This applies
even more at major Goan conventions and social get-together. The purpose of
these events is to network. Hence Goans should move away from their "tight
group" (family, village, Diaspora links, "old friends", educational group, etc)
and make it a point to meet, share useful information and experiences with
other Goans / groups.
Regards, GL

“TOASTMASTER STYLE”
By John Mascarenhas – DTM* (*Distinguished Toastmaster)
What is Evaluating Toastmaster style?
Any convention involves public speaking and public speaking is a skill, and
like any skill it can be developed and improved.
