Now that a partial list with pictures and descriptions of those struck by the
bullets of killer Stephen Paddock have started appearing in the media, one is
struck by those everyday people who died; veterans, teachers, male nurse,
technicians, house-builder, skydiver, young unmarried people, mothers and
fathers and even grandparents. Many of them had lives to live and happiness,
sadness and emotions in between to experience.

It makes sense for one who doesn’t believe in God to conclude that it was
random. Not all people are sane and not all people care for the well-being of
other sentients. Most of them are, but I repeat, some are not.

But what reason can a Theist give for such loss of life? That God has his own
plans and keeps us out of it? That God works in mysterious ways? That he gives
us life and then chooses to suddenly and violently jerk us out of it? That he
is imposing some kind of divine but convoluted justice on the people who were
killed because they somehow deserved it? That he wanted those people to be in a
better place?

Perhaps this is where one decides for oneself.
