What ails postal services ? Only one out of four letters posted from Chinchinim to Benaulim reached the destination after 10 days. The Deputy Post Master, Mapusa did not even bother to attend to the query. He could have tested it by sending controlled mail from Chinchinim. There is no accountability, responsibility to consumer grievances, Who cares with prevailing indifference and don’t carry attitude? The letters have also not been redirected to th sender with the address inscribed there in. Make in India is a mere slogan. For close to two months postal stationery, stamped envelopes are out of stock and thereis no indication as to when they willbe sold. Customers are asked to get Xerox copies of forms for investment, which should be obtained from Posts or xerox copies be supplied to customers. The invested certificates are delayed over months due to staff shortage and fresh investments are put on hold. Govt is borrowing huge capital at high interest rates, when postal savings are easy, cheap capital available to the State Govt. The Postal staff are being starved off much needed , entitled necessities to carry out the duties.. Chinchinim postal committee by registered letter requested to supplement sanctioned staff ,instead the lone clerk, in utter disregard to local needs is constantly deputed here and there, leaving Postmaster to deal with customers. Chinchinim Post has deposits of over 80 crores much more than Post offices at Navelim, Cuncolim, Canacona etc and yet there are better compliments of staff posted there. Many more new responsibilities are being added to post offices, besides their regular duties. The quality is what matters, not staggered service, having to stand hours in Q`S, specially for the senior citizens.. Goa being a State, should have its own Postal circle and not attached to the apron strings of Maharashtra .This also denies local employment, promotion and delays in taking decisions. By ignoring , not responding to written and telephonic messages, the Deputy Postmaster, Mapusa cannot wish away the problems of postal services. Why the staff recruitment is not done in time offer better services to the customers? The state has absolutely no say in the functioning of post offices in Goa, as they are not under their jurisdiction
