------------------------------------------------------- CONVENTION OF THE GOAN DIASPORA FROM GOA INTO THE WORLD Lisbon, Portugal June 15-17, 2007 Details at: http://www.casadegoa.org -------------------------------------------------------
Dear Folks, Sethu is in a race with Spiderman and since the 3rd film is just out, we are compelled and thrilled to announce our 4th Sethu Sunday - the jumble sale with a difference (the best for less!). The sale is on 24th June 2007 at 32 Defence Colony, Alto Porvorim from 9am to 6 pm. Mark the date in your diaries right away. This year we plan to put aside the money we raise towards realizing our dream - to build the best child development centre in Goa. Now that we have gained some wisdom through the experience of organizing the previous 3 sales, we are laying down a few Laws of the Jumble to ensure that everyone has a splendid time (including the organizers!). Since we consider each of you as part of the Sethu family, please accept our frankness - if we can't talk openly to family, then who can we tell???? WHAT WE WANT (wish, covet, yearn and pray for) We gladly accept donations of ANY new and used-but-almost-new stuff such as 1) Toys - all in working and good condition. Soft toys welcomed with hugs. No broken toys, please 2) Books and magazines - children's books, novels, encyclopedias and reference books are a sellout 3) CDs - music, DVDs - we do not want video cassettes as NO ONE buys them 4) Clothes and accessories - should be sellable, without holes, tears and stains and no used undergarments please (experience talking) 5) Household stuff - kitchenware, crockery, cutlery, linen, cushions, clocks (in working condition), pictures and paintings, curios, gift items and everything else sellable 6) Stationery - art and craft material, folders, notepads, new marker pens, etc. 7) Plants - since water water is everywhere in June, people are thinking of their gardens. Plants can be donated in pots or in little plastic bags filled with mud. 8) Furniture - in case the items cannot be carted to the venue, we would appreciate photos, which can be displayed together with the price 9) Electronic goods - only in working condition 10) Toiletries - soaps, shampoos, creams and other beauty products (within their sell by date) 11) Food - everything sells like hotcakes, including hot and cool cakes, cookies, chocolates, snacks (sandwiches, chicken lollypops, cutlets, bondas, wadas, samosas, etc. etc.), pulao, channa masala and the whole range of food, glorious food. We would love people to volunteer to make a dish for us, so please let us know.
