Subject: [Goanet] Feast of blessed Fr Agnelo

Thousands of devotees throng the hillock on the occasion of the feast.  The
frequency of buses on the route the ,being the only public transport  was
woefully inadequate, Hundreds of faithful were left stranded.
Their route buses were packed like sardines Why the private  transport
strangulated and denied permits? Alternative rapid, frequent arrangements was
not the substitute.
The return trip for devotees of the South Goa was a nightmare to enter and
hours of wait in patience. There should have special busses to and fro for
south Goa faithful having denied permits to private transport carriers.

GL responds:
Likely this scenario is not new to Goa. These arrangements for transportation
for the event should have been months in the making.
Who organizes these feasts?
I would lay the blame on: the Catholic Church, the Pillar Fathers, the
panchayat of the region, and yes the tourism department of Goa that spends
crores on advertising Goa in the capitals of Europe.
Blessed Agnelo is in line to become Goa's second saint.  These arrangements are
a forerunner to events in Goa.
I am sure some Goans will insist to have the Pope come down to Goa to canonize
the saint ..... or claim racial discrimination?

Will the MLAs of the ruling party or the opposition raise and find solution to
these transportation issues in the Goa legislature?
