Are Quepem police Sheltering Anti-socialelements of Ambaulim, Quepem?
Thatanti social activities in Ambaulim village goes on increasing day by day. Butthe Quepem police hardly takes effective action against those involved in anti socialactivities. The action of the police also depend upon the status of thecomplainant. If the victim is illiterate, comes from the marginalize section ofthe society the police makes the victim to run from pillar to post even beforeregistering the complaint. In some of the cases the case the victims aretreated like culprit and the culprit are treated as victim by the Quepempolice. Insome cases when the culprit abuses thevictim at the police station and the police mutely watch the same. Inone case some youth with masked face assaulted a security guard guarding the plantation. They were caught on CCTV footageand subsequently identified by the locals and accordingly informed to thepolice, but police did not acted against them. Inanother case one youth committed theft of gold ornament from a house, complaintlodge but police did not act. Theft cases are regularly reported from Ambaulim but no effective action comes forth from thepolice. The police more stress for settlement rather then taking action againstthe culprit. Therecent incident reported on 20 November,2017 is of molestation of a minor girl. The minor girl while coming from her tuition classesfour youth restrains and severely molesther. The matter was immediately reported to the police, police refuse to takethe complaint from the parents of the victim. The complaint was taken by thepolice after three days. The complaint was written by one of the police office of PSIrank in such a way favouring the culprit. No incident of molestation ofwhatsoever was written by the police in the complaint. On the other hand the culprit who hadcommitted offence comes to the police station and abuses the victims family,and when one of the relatives of the victim family question them, the culprit approaches the police and lodge their complaint which the police immediatelyregisters. Arethe Anti social elements of Ambaulim have the blessing of the political bossesof Quepem as such the Quepem police are sheltering them? Is the moot questioneverybody asks in the village.
