Cuncolim Warriors and Albert Princesses play 1-1 draw

 GFA-Vedanta Women’s Football League

CUNCOLIM: Cuncolim Warriors and Albert Princesses played out a hard fought 1-1 draw in the Vedanta’s Women's Football League game organised by Goa Football Association held at Cuncolim ground on Friday. Somaya Mukundar scored for the home team while Marlat Cardozo netted the all important equalizer for the Albert side. Both teams having lost their previous games in the round three came out positive and it was Cuncolim Warriors who created the first chance through Malvita Mascarenhas who's shot off a free kick went just a whisker away from the cross bar. The game then saw both teams share equal possession but it was the home side which created more chances and it was no surprise as Somaya Mukundar scored for Cuncolim Warriors in 20th minute after she had a maze run from the midfield area and did the rest with easy placing in the back of the nets to give her team an early 1-0 lead. Having an early lead, Cuncolim Warriors created more chances through Anushka Viegas and Somaya Mukundar and the later came close to scoring in the 30th minute but found her run cut short by the Albert defense. On the other side, Marlat Cardozo of Albert Princesses had the chance or scoring but the Cuncolim Warriors defender Ageema Rodrigues cleared it before it was too late.
Cuncolim Warriors went into the break with a hard fought 1-0 win.
The second half saw Albert Princesses press hard to find the equalizer through Marlat Cardozo and substitute Anushka Castro. Cuncolim Warriors Somaya Mukundar had a wonderful run on the right flank but the Albert captain Scindia cleared it in the 47th minute.
The next miutes saw both teams restrict to more of midfield play.
In the 55th minute, a mistake by Ageema Rodrigues of Cuncolim defense lead to Marlat Cardozo run into the danger area but it was the keeper that saved it for them. With one hour down, Marlot Cardozo of Albert Princesses made it all square in the 60th minute as she tapped the ball over the Cuncolim keeper who came out wide to clear the ball. Trying hard to take the lead, Marlat Cardozo came close to scoring but found her shot from inside the box straight to the keepers hands. On the other side, Cuncolim Warriors kept trying to find the golden goal through Somaya and Sharon Fernandes but the Albert defense stood strong. The last minutes witnessed both teams tussle to find the lead but it was too late as the whistle was blown and both teams shared the points.
