In my opinion the Higher Management of Bank of India should take immediate disciplinary action against branch manager of Bank of India Saligao for being the rude and arrogant to the customer of the branch. It is a matter of reputation risk for the bank, and therefore she should be fired from the services of the bank as she insisted on the customer for the closure of his account.
Secondly a bearer cheque is payable to anyone, presenting the cheque for encashment at the counter, without insisting of any ID. She wanted the Aadhaar Card (AC) linked to the account. "We have not made ACs," said Suhail. Then sign this declaration stating, "I do not wish to submit my AC number, for linking it in your bank," she insisted. Suhail refused, saying that there was no Supreme Court ruling on it as yet. When I went to the bank, she told me the same thing, but this time, rudely and arrogantly. We came home, complained to a P P Joshi at the Zonal Office (2404404, also 2424627, 2404400). He admitted that the BOI procedure was incorrect. He apologised profusely for Ashwini's behaviour and phoned her to immediately give us the money. We went back and told her: till the 31st December, based on AC linkage, you will never ever refuse to honour a cheque presented by a consumer, in this branch. It is illegal and amounts to a criminal offence of theft. She was very angry, but had to give us the money.
