To Goanet - Every evening the residents and Miramar and the adjoining areas are subjected to a racket generated by the blaring of thumping music from the cruise boats on the Mandovi River.
This is a longstanding issue and just before he came back to power in 2012, Manohar Parrikar had promised to put an end to this nuisance. Well, we know what his word is worth. This is surprising because many of Manohar's fanboys (and indeed even some of his close relatives) are affected by this menace. I sent him an email yesterday asking him to put a stop to this violation. Of course, I know he will not respond (for obvious reasons). See the link below from 2011. I had pursued the matter from 2007-2011 and the Pollution Board had sent their techs to measure the noise levels. The measurements showed that THEY EXCEEDED THE PERMITTED LEVELS. Yet, nothing has been done. If anything, the noise has gotten louder. Finally - what kind of people are these who would want to take a boat ride in a beautiful, potentially serene setting and then have it pierced by cacophonous rubbish? This is the kind of trash we have from the rest of India coming here. But then, we Goans had a choice as well - we didn't have to cater to these brutes. http://www.parrikar.org/misc/Panjim-Noise-Pollution.pdf r
