Starting from Boxing Day and lasting the coming week, Toronto experiences very
cold weather with an average temperature of minus 20C going up to minus 29C
Wednesday evening with wind chill.

At that temp, all-season tyres no longer retain much traction and snow tyres
are almost a must. Snow tyres are made of a softer rubber compound and
therefore have a better grip in the cold, but they wear out faster when it’s no
longer cold.

Walking around in extreme cold weather causes frostbite in a couple of minutes
on any naked flesh, so no walking more than you have to for more than that time.

Other than that, the cold crisp air is invigorating and the air purity high. A
hearty hot soup, or hot chocolate drink or a VSOP brandy harkens on returning
indoors.
