Friday Balcao the fortnightly discussion event to be held on 26th January will focus on the Constitution of India and the empowerment of Citizens. The Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles of State Policy and Fundamental Duties are sections of the Constitution of India that prescribe the fundamental obligations of the State to its citizens and the duties and the rights of the citizens to the State. Goa is the first state to observe Constitution Week from January 19th to 25th in order to bring about awareness among people about the Constitution of India How can the empowerment of citizens be effectively taken ahead by spreading awareness about the Constitution of India ? How can educational institutions create awareness about the duties and the rights of the citizens to the State ? How can the Gram Sabhas, Mahila Mandals, Self Help Groups, Consumer Forums & Consumer Welfare Clubs assist in this process ? These are some of the questions that will be covered in the discussion. Friday Balcao will be from 4pm to 6pm at the Goa Desc Resource Centre No.11 Liberty Apartments, Feira Alta, Mapusa and is open to members of the public.
