Absolutely right.

Sikhs have been well integrated into the Indian fabric having occupied and
occupying all kinds of important positions, not just in the armed forces. Yet
why did the Sikhs fight so violently for Khalistan?

Is it just a diaspora movement as the Indian Govt is fond of pointing out or is
there some feeling in the general Sikh community that wants strongly to secede.

OK, if referendums were allowed, probably all the North West States, definitely
Kashmir and perhaps Sikh majority Punjab would separate and India could not
allow that.

But what is to prevent India from making all those people really feel they are
as important to the country as all others? The fact is they are given
step-motherly treatment as citizens, alienating their bond to the country.
