Election Commissioners of India did a commendable job in curbing down Muscle Powers of 202 contesting candidates in election 2007 but failed miserably in controlling Money Power. As usual Vitamin M played a dominant roll in most constituencies. No constituency thought in the larger interest of Goa while electing their representative. However, dwellers of the constituencies of Panaji and Navelim appeared to be sensible as they elected their representatives wisely. Panaji elected Goa's leader of educated masses in Manohar Parrikar while Navelim elected leader of uneducated masses in Churchill Alemao despite heavy influence of Vitamin M. Now that Churchill has created miracles Margaret Alva who called him with quaint names like Joker, backstabber, betrayer, person with congress heart and finally Judas (these quaint names are in the order as given by Maggie) is all set to bestow SAINTHOOD on Churchill. Anyway three cheers to ST. CHURCHILL ALEMAO. As regards Manohar Parrikar, every Goan, irrespective of which party they belong, wished Manohar Parrikar to get elected from Panaji. So much so that they did not mind electing 39 congressmen but they wanted one Manohar Parrikar to be elected. This wish of most Goans appears to be more personal appreciations of Manohar Parrikar rather than his party affiliation. Verdict 2007 reflects 50 % success rate of congress + NCP, and 42.4 % success of BJP and congress + NCP (less old cock) emerging out with thumping majority. Going by these figures general public have interpreted the verdict to be "Shown doors to communal attitudes" which appears to be true to some extent. But the very same general public have forgotten that they are equally sandwiched between corruption and communalism without secularism butter for next 5 years. This statement is more because none of the so called congressmen in Goa are true congressmen. Goan congressmen are Adulterated Congressmen and hence their thinking, their actions, their modus operandi always drags Goans on roads in protest. "Dog's tail cannot be made straight by inserting the tail in a straight hollow pipe" explains this viewpoint. As usual immediately after election elected adulterated congressmen virtually started "tun...tun...hav...hav" fight to become CM. This time the tricks of spineless Pratapsingh Rane's trick did not work and representative of migrants in Digambar Kamat was made CM of Goa by congress high command turning many congress leaders rebellions. So much so that congress high command are also planning to divide PWD portfolio for the first time into three sections just to take care of rebellion attitude of Ravi Naik, Sudhin Dhawlikar & Anil Salgaonkar who are equally aspiring to take PDW portfolio. Some Goan thinkers argue 2007 verdict saying: 1) Goa is for Dynasty Rule just because 2 Dhavlikars, 2 Alemaos, and 2 Ranes are elected to assembly; 2) Goa does not believe in local political outfits; 3) Goa has replaced the lost spine of Congress party; 4) Goans have enough time to curb corruption by coming out on streets and shouting slogans but cannot tolerate communal violence. 4) Susegad peace loving Goans gets irritated when tension gets created in the society - as though they can bear any number of tensions but not social tensions - even if the reasons for tension creations are right! In my opinion verdict 2007 appear to be a paid contract between constituency voters and their representative elected to manage the business of their constituency. While casting vote none of the voters from any constituency thought in the larger interest of Goa. The voters forgot that their representative is ultimately going to manage the affairs of whole of Goa not just their constituency. In this context, Goan mandate can be viewed as a slap on one side of the preaching "Hate corruption - Hate Communalism" of Goa Bachav Abhiyan, Archbishop and Jagrut Goem. Contrary to their preaching most constituencies turned out selfish and without second thought they embraced Corruption! The collective verdict of constituencies is a clear green signal to congress party with authorization to "Go ahead with corruption..." In other words the present mandate is a "License to sell Goa". The face value of verdict 2007 though indicates the above mentioned 4 impressions it is deceptively so! Deeper analysis reveals different pictures! Heat-to-heart discussions and analysis revealed that native Goans wanted to achieve different objectives but their action plan got greatly diluted by colonized migrants and other non-Goans(vote banks) who do not know the history nor the geography of our state. It is these banks that played decisive roll in deciding representative of the constituency just for Vitamin M and native Goans were seen watching the election outcome with Feni glass in hand and or cigar in their mouth. After the result these native Goans were seen expressing their views saying "I expected this to happen". While some said "It's good to seen mandate to go in favor of congress party" forgetting that they were the same persons who had washed congress leaders with heavy corruption charges without even applying soap during Goa Bachav Abhyan agitations! What ever Goans might say now but the truth is the present verdict is delivered by migrants and non-Goans not by native Goans. At the end of the day - verdict is verdict - Goa must accept it. This increasing influence of migrants and non-Goans for sure is going to be quite detrimental to Goa's future. Goans are becoming non-Goans in their own Goa. Who is to be blamed for this happenings in Goa? Yes, you are right......you know the answer and yet you are afraid to answer in public.......you don't speak about it as though it does not matter to you. Conclusively I wonder whether our posterity will enjoy healthy atmosphere in Goa in near future?
