WHAT’S IN NAMES

The Times of India means to say that the names of Goan towns, villages, rivers
and the rest are etymologically influenced by foreign sources. Example: Velim,
Cuncolim and Ambelim are said to be Kannada names.

Not surprisingly, ASSOLNA is excluded, which perhaps,  is because the name:
Assolna  is derived from our own Konkani,  meaning: ‘OSLEM  NA.”
