Savita Halappanavar nee Yadagi was a pretty Kannada woman from the Belgaum area of Karnataka (google “pics of Savita Halappanavar”).
Belgaum (now Belagavi) is a district town, not far from Goa on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border, having close links with Goa from Portuguese times.
