I think it was the Supreme Court of India which, when faced with the dilemma of deciding how Goa had been added to the Indian political entity, used the term "annexation". Much is made of this by those who find it tough or impossible to keep up with the changing reality. But before we get into that old loop, I would suggest the crucial question we need to ask is what impact this had on the lives of the majority of the people (whether then or now) living in the region.
