Bhandare,
I was about to apologise to you until I read your last
paragraph. If I'm to be ashamed to be a "member of the
(Catholic) organisation", are you to be ashamed to a
"member of the Hindu organisation", which sanctioned
such abhorrent practices as caste?.
All religions are synonymous with their organisations.
Religion doesn't exist outside of organisation. And
because organisations are run by human beings they are
subject to human error and folly. Ofcourse, religion
must constantly evolve and, subject itself to
introspection and reform. The Catholic Church like any
organisation must take a deep look within itself and
ask searching questions.
But my problem with your post about the Catholic
Church is this, why defile the reputation of the
Church with incidents of pedophilia? Sexual
molestation is even more rampant in schools and
believe me because of the massive lawsuits one is
subject to in the US, a lot of it is hushed-up. Yet,
we don't talk about schools being synonymous with
pedophilia.
I'm wondering why you didn't find it in your heart to
also mention the tremendous amount of work the Church
does, from working with the poor in the most desperate
parts of the world, to outreach programmes, family
crisis counseling, drug rehabilitation, safe havens
for war refugees, battered women and child,
educational institutions and hospitals. The Catholic
Pope is possibly the most influential religious figure
of the 21st century, a roving ambassador of peace and
hope to millions. So, again I have to wonder why you
chose to concentrate on pedophilia.
If you tell me that you bear no ill-will towards
Catholics, I'm happy to hear it. Now let's see you
walk the talk.
