"Inspired by the rhythms of the monsoon", Stuti Choral Ensemble and the Goa String Orchestra presented a concert under the baton of Parvesh Java. The programme includes instrumental and choral music by Handel, Rachmaninoff and Goan composers. The highlight of the show will be Franz Schubert’s Mass in G. Three pieces of Goan religious music. Piedade Saibini, a hymn of the end-18th century, beginning 19th-century. Arranged by four voices by Antonio Calisto Vaz. The second is Deva Tujea Doulatichi arranged by the late maestro Fr Lourdinho Barretto (who was based at the Saligao Seminary), followed by Mae Kakuttin Bhorlele (also known as Pav Mae) arranged by the late maestro Micael Martins, with accompaniment on the piano. Stuti was established in 2009, with the aim of bringing up the rich tradition of choral music in Goa. It is open to anyone who has got a voice to sing and a commitment to it. To join, it's fine if you cannot read music. "We teach them," as Dr (Fr) Eufemiano Miranda says.
