Fr. Joe was also on staff at St. Mary's. Another brother had retired
from Kenya Customs, but continued to meet every passenger liner that sailed
into Mombasa from India. Crews treated him like a mascot. He spotted the
alien in me on the quay and reached outwith advice and words of comfort. That

My late brother(Rev. Joseph Maciel, S.J.), was Parish Priest
at St. Peter's and also Rector at St. Stanislaus for a time.
