A monthly magazine in Utica, New York has just published a review article about
"Your Happy Brain - Why and How to Hug it" written by two Goan co-authors (and
goanetter).  The book is written for the lay person and is aimed at PREVENTING
brain disorders - the third most common cause of illness after heart problems
and cancer.
Common brain problems range from autism and ADHD in infants and children;
addiction in adults and Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's in seniors.
Alzheimer's is the sixth most common cause of death is adults. And suicide is
the second most common cause of death in teenage population.
Additionally there are "social issues" (which should but) not considered
illness.  Smoking, alcoholism, eating disorders, behavioral issues like truancy
in school and student drop-out; anger management, violence and emotional issues
including emotional-distancing which could lead to divorce.  There is varying
degree of genetic overlay and childhood up-bringing in social-behavioral brain
disorders.
The book is published by Amazon in print and e-book and hence (theoretically at
least) be available in India and rest of the world.
Those who cannot access the book, could visit its web-page and read for free
some essays on the brain. wwwyourhappybrainbook.com
