Sangott is a Konkani variant of Tigur, the former being less than 6 inches and
the latter being longer with bigger girth. Sangott was ideal for ambot-tik
curry while Tigur was usually pan-fried or roasted over wood embers. Both are
from the catfish species.

Here is an interesting TOI article about an exotic and invasive African catfish
that was unknowingly introduced to Goa waters and is responsible for the
destruction of native Goan catfish.
