First of all,
Dear Selmadidi, "I AM SORRY!"
your pal,
ChaCha Charu Datta.

Second- "...the Goan Catholic community once the architects of the first ethnic rebellion...lamentable ignorance of Goan history... "

RE: The reference to Goan Catholic community as 'Ethnic' is not politically correct. The etymological origin of the Greek word 'ethnikos' means heathen. Heathen = atheist, barbaric, godless, infidel, irreligious, pagan, philistine(!oh yes, Selma, the sweetheart of polite society!) savage,unenlightened,heretic,unbeliever...etc. none of which is correct apropos of Goan catholic community. Who (other than WIKI p'haps ) says that it was the catholic community that resisted the colonial rule? A clear distinction is impossible, the assertion incorrect. Any such catagorical claim in the world's WIKIes is a much latter addition to cumulative facts and should be taken as convenient assertion & not historical fact.

Selma writes....
Sometimes you espouse such balderdash, charming only
because it is balderdash..."

Re: What you call Sunith's balderdash is actually honest logic. And if it is balderdash, well, it cannot but be charming for obvious reasons! Whereas, the tosh you post reeks of highbrow, self-important, cocksure pronouncement, grown on easy info-gathering at the press of a button on your computer which you use as your own intellectual property. You are like a banana. Protected by your skin on all sides, unexposed to real things, you think it is your god given right to be superior, hai na? Your confomist dependability on user-friendly information on the net is mediocre talent. What you say clashes with what I suppose you really believe. Should that make you a hypocrite? And a confused hypocrite at that!

"How can you label generations and generations of Goans
as being brain-washed and having an identity crisis
just because they don't subscribe to your point of
view of history?"

RE: What is this GENERATIONS AND GENERATIONS of Goans? A mere five hundred years of surrogate cultural superimposition does not radically expunge the intrinsic tendencies, which in Goans as in ALL the peoples in this subcontinent can not but be Hindu in the broadest sense of the word. That a small group can be brainwashed is quite plausible as proved by the methods of the militant leftist and fascist propaganda-agents. Inquisition in Goa is a fact.
Indeed Selma, what part of history are you disputing?

..."Perhaps they know a thing or two that
you don't because they've lived through it while you
read about it in a history book, if that..."

RE: yes, but the thing or two they perhaps know may, in all likelihood, be pitifully erroneous like your own garbled world-view, which often fluctuates like a badly wired electric bulb. Sometimes you are omniscient universalist, and other times you are a small-minded champion of the colonialist. Bai Selma, just because you are open to intercast/interreligeous marriage allience does not disprove your iffy claims because these alliences could have myriad ulterior motives (Egoistic mostly, often economical and rarely, very rarely indeed, 'love') You Selma, will have a lot to slog to prove that the motive b'hind your psedo- liberalism is not either the first or the second because you have taken a twenty-something year old to task just because he believes in all that contradicts your opinions proves that you are incapable of love except as an article of trade for your immediate gratification.

"Who is this 'Chatturbhati' that the store should have been named after.
Is this a cheap attempt to make fun of a Hindu sounding name? Shame on
you! Are you not aware of Goan Hindu surnames?"

Re: There! A broad display of Selma's narrow minded tosh!

"So all this angst that one feels on account of being colonised, when
the rubber meets the road, one doesn't feel unduly perturbed by taking advantage of its perks."

RE: Yes,what perks are you talking about? Not everyone has the knack for Arab camel-herding?

Yours truly,
Charu
