*Tamil Nadu Surfers stamp authority on the penultimate day of the Sixth Covelong Point Surf, Music & Yoga Festival *
*Chennai, 18thAugust 2018: *The penultimate day of the sixth edition of ‘Covelong Point Surf Music & Yoga Festival 2018’ witnessed strong dominance from Tamil Nadu surfers. The annual event that is held at ‘India’s first surfing village’ of Covelong will culminate tomorrow with the semi-finals and finals of all the categories. The Surfing competition is sanctioned by the Surfing Federation of India and is considered as one of the premier surfing champiosnhips of the country. The three day surfing, music and yoga festival is being held at the Covelong Point beach in chennai from the 17-19 August 2018. The event is promoted by the Chennai based TT Group while Eva, Skore & Radiance Realty are the co-sponsors. The second day of the Covelong Point Surfing Championship 2018 saw stiff competition between all the surfers across all the categories but in the end ahead of the semi-finals tomorrow, it were the Tamil Nadu surfers who stamped their authority today. Surfers across all the categories were given 15 minutes each to compete under testing conditions in the sea. Within these 15 minutes the surfers are allowed to catch 10 waves to showcase their skills, and the best two waves for each are accounted towards their competition scores by the judges. Winners were judged on the basis of the manoeuvres performed by each surfer in the water and their ability to catch the wave. The day started with clear skies and optimal surfing conditions. The day started with the preliminary rounds for the *Women’s Category (All Age Open)*. The category saw participation from a total of 11 surfers from different nationalities but only four of them could make it to the Finals for tomorrow. The four finalists include defending champion Suhasini Damian, who along with Rebecca Davis (Canada), Sinchana Gowda and Vilassini Sundar would be competing for the top honourstomorrow. The *Masters Category (31 Yrs & Above) *will see legendary Murthy Megavan along with Mukesh Panjanaphan, Arun Vasu, Santhosh Moorthy battling it out in the Finalstomorrow. In the *Groms Category (16 & Under) *Nithish Varun, Akilan S, Harish Muthu, Sivaraj, Ruban V, Dinesh S would be competing in the finals tomorrow. The *12 & Under category *will see Naveen Kumar R, Srikant D, Vishal and Kishore Kumar battle it out for the top spot tomorrow in the Finals. The *Junior Category *saw Defending Champion Ajeesh Ali, Ramesh Budiahal, Manikandan I, Sathish S, Surya P, Sanjay Selvamani make it o the semi-finals tomorrow. The *Senior’s Category *saw 12 surfers making it to round 2 out of which six made it to the semi-finals due for tomorrow. Defending Champion Raghul Paneerselvam, Manikandan D, Pazhani V, Darini Selvakumar, Vignes D, Rajsekar P will be competing for spot in the finals tomorrow. The Day also included various adventure sports activities like rock climbing, Obstacle race, Kayak and Catmaran Race to name a few. Today also saw Yoga sessions from Dina Lebinger, Rohini Manohar, Liya Sabatier, Divya Srinivasan. The surfers and vistors were thrilled by some scintillating performances from Mali, Brodha V and Sapta in the music segment. The Covelong Point Surf.Music.Yoga Festival 2018 festival is one of most coveted and India’s top surfing competition. This year the festival would include mesmerising musical performances from across a wide array of genres including the Iconic 90’s Indie-Rock band ‘Indus Creed’ along with Chennai’s leading electronic band ‘Sapta’ and The F16s a Dance/Punk band from Bengaluru amongst many other performances over the weekend. *About Covelong Point Surf Competition: *Hosted by the Covelong Point Social Surf School and TT Group in association with the Surfing Federation of India, theCovelong Point Surf Competition is an international level surf competition that takes place annually in Kovalam.
