Congratulations Nilesh on your thought provking article about inner party democracy. To those who admire autocrats (no matter how superficially efficient), and wish to be slaves of autocracy, we dont have a cure. To those of us like Floriano Lobo(thanks for your gracious comments) and others who love democracy and freedom, which may be messy & corrupt there is hope. Democracy is the only way to go. So, >what went wrong? And what were these danger signals? And, >more importantly, is the BJP alone to be blamed for losing Margao? ..................... COMMENT Actually, Manohar Parrikar seems to have directly contributed to the loss of two more BJP candidates in Goa this month. Agnelo Silveira lost to Babush Monserrate after the BJP apparatus [both Mandal Committee and Mahila Committee] was disolved on poll eve, whatever the pretext. Last time BJP's Anil Hoble lost to Mummy Victoria by 14 votes. The margin miraculously increased...without pretty Jenny actually winning with BJP supporters. I would dare say that Matanhy lost the trust of the catholic electorate in some measure due to his endorsement by Parikar. May be Tai Nirmala, too. If not for Parrikar, the BJP may have coasted to a victory of 20 MLAs or so. The electorate of Goa must thank Parrikar for messing the BJP's chances while trying to promote his own. His win is definitely due to the blessings of Babush Monserrate and a few Congressmen and..if the rumour mill is to be believed...a NCP office bearer also helped in the Porrikar victory. Win some, lose some. Parrikar's bete noire, Digambar Kamath, now seats on the coveted kodel. Parrikar, Thou shalt not covet thy neighbours goods, cattle and oxen. Viva Goa.
