ROCE/Roas: Juice. It has symbolic connotations, of course. Coconut palm is considered 'wish tree' (KALPAVRIKSKSHA) Its fruit, the coconut is called The fruit of splendour (SHREE PHALAM) The juice (ROASS) of that fruit =RASA=delight So it traslates as a blessing from elders and gods: "May your matrimony be an experience practically the same as BATHING IN THE DELIGHT FROM THE SLENDOUR OF THE WISHFULFILLING TREE." the tradition is unmistakably Indian (Hindu/vedic etc etc) CHUDDO/bangles - necessarily green in colour. (Up north I think they have to be 'surkha' or red) Again the green symbolizes longevity. The wearing of chuddo is a symbolic promise that as long as the bride wears the 'chuddo'she may enjoy her husband's companionship. It has also sringaric connotations. (aside)Tinkling glass bangles, coupled with the fragrance of mogrim (jasmine), is sexually very stimulating. (try it out! But don't drink feni because then you might ruin the sattvic or sublime element of the entire ritual) lunch at the bride's place, the day after the wedding, is that called 'portonnem'? RE:Dunno! In other traditions the bride and the groom come to stay in her mother's home for a few days but only after spending the first five days with her husband in his house. The Hindus have it as 'ghor bhorovnnem' = filling a home. Unless they are different aspects of the same sentiment which is, symbolically, the last meal for the girl and first for the groom in her mother's house. It is a lovely and subtle way of describing a transition. See how closely linked the Goan Catholic rituals and Hindu rituals are. We are basically brothers.
