Not that I will then write a long post about defending them but because I want to see for myself what a pro-colonial statement sounds like. I think I have always stated that this debate is redundant to me. When we have so many pressing problems in Goa, I'm glad you are taking time out of your busy schedule to keep this debate alive and well about 50 years after the departure of the Portuguese. Perhaps it is you who has unreconciled issues rather than me. My contention has always been that a lot of people do not share your visceral hatred of the Portuguese and that these people should not be trivialised or denigrated for not doing so, by words such as "being brainwashed or suffering from a slave mentality". As for waving flags, I'm not sure if you are referring to a specific sporting event or all sporting events in general where flag-waving by Goans should be banned under the law. I think everyone has a right to wave whatever flag they want, under our freedom of expression guaranteed in the Constitution. I wave the Dubai flag when Dubai is playing football, not because I think Dubai has a great team but because they need all the cheer they can get. I'm a little disturbed by your statement " how Catholics are perceived". Are we now to live in fear of how we are perceived? By whom? Who has the right to cast judgment on us? Is there someone specific, whose idea of nationalism we have to conform to? If so, please let me know. Maybe it's Veer Savarkar? I'm glad you are into making Gestapo-like lists. Please also take the time to forward them to all parties in India just like you, who are hell bent on proving that other people who don't conform to their view of history or nationalism or religion, don't belong in India. selma ____________________________________________________________________________________ Get your own web address.
