The best comparison to him is Devagowda, the self-styled poor and humble farmer who became PM by an accident! Regards Jeevan
........................... Dear Jeevan, One does not compare apples and bananas to say which one is better. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam is not a career politician and he was not elected by the common man as the President of India. He is a rocket scientist who was the consensus candidate of the NDA and the opposition parties then, including Congress, for the post. Digambar Kamat is another cup of tea....and not likely to become the President of India. He will make a good CM for Goa, inspite of having vested interest in the Building lobby. I only hope he can hold on to his majority in the house, a thing that never affected Dr. Kalam's fixed term in office. Digamber was with the BJP continuously from Nov. 1994 to January, 2005. Thank God he ditched the BJP after the VCD fiasco. If the BJP had made him the CM in 2002, he might still have been the CM and the BJP in power. Neither Digamber nor the BJP thought of that in 2002...drunk as they were with Parrikar's predictions of a bright saffron tomorrow. Mog asundi. Miguel
