The Government of India directed all sports bodies in the country to adopt the National Sports Code. The Sports code was formulated to go a long way to free the state/district level sports bodies, which are run as fiefdom by a few politicians and to contribute significantly towards the true development of sports in the country.
It is however highly deplorable that the Goa Olympic Association, which is the umbrella body of State level Sports Associations, has not yet adopted the code despite it being headed by the Union Minister Shripad Naik. It was incumbent on Shripad Naik to summon a general body meeting of the Goa Olympic Association to discuss and adopt the National Sports Code, but in a rank act of sheer arrogance he is holding elections to the Executive Committee of his Goa Olympic Association without complying with the directive of his own Central government. Shame on you Shripad. Your true colours now stand exposed.
