In the death of Gurunath Shetye, Ribandar has lost a very illustrious son and Goa has become impoverished with the loss of this great educationist. As founder Principal of Ribandar’s Bal Bharati Vidyamandir, the multi talented Gurunath Shetye tirelessly built the institution from scratch transforming it into a great centre of learning. All through his life till his death at 95, Gurunath Shetye lived a very simple and humble life always working selflessly in rendering service to the community. It is very sad that the Goa Government did not give adequate recognition to this great man but hopefully the authorities will now act swiftly in ensuring what had been long overdue to the now departed Gurunath Shetye.
