[1] BOOK LAUNCH - PROGRESSIVE REVOLUTION: A MODERN ART FOR A NEW INDIA
As the clock chimed the midnight hour on the 15th of August 1947, the subcontinent threw off the shackles of the British Raj: India was free. How should this new nation define itself? In Bombay, the Progressive Artists’ Group, firebrands from different castes and creeds, came together to provide an answer. An exhibition at Asia Society Museum in New York, The Progressive Revolution: A Modern Art for New India, tells their story (from 14 September 2018 to 20 January 2019). This book launch, for the show’s publication, will be chaired by Professor Anthony Gardner, Head of the Ruskin School of Art and Fellow of The Queen's College, and will involve a panel discussion with the catalogue’s contributors: Zehra Jumabhoy, Guest Curator, The Progressive Revolution: A Modern Art for a New India, Asia Society, New York Faisal Devji, Professor in Indian History at St Anthony’s College Oxford & Conor Macklin, Director of Grosvenor Gallery, London When: 6-8pm, 9 October 2018 Where: Shulman Auditorium The Queen's College High Street Oxford OX1 4AW What: Panel Discussion & Drinks Reception References 1. https://asiasociety.org/node/28735/exhibitions/progressive-revolution-modern-art-new-india Unsubscribe: http://app.icontact.com/icp/mmail-mprofile.php?r=27423323&l=7378&s=5352&m=230318&c=1518318 This message was sent to [email protected] from [email protected] Grosvenor Gallery 35 Bury Street London, England SW1Y 6AY, United Kingdom - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - iContact - Try it for FREE: https://www.icontact.com/signup-trial?utm_medium=poweredby&utm_source=footerlink&utm_campaign=iC%20Footer&afid=144186
