In Chiang Mai. We flew into this scenic cultural city to the north of Thailand
by an early morning Thai Smile flight from Bangkok. The idea was to meet Ms.
Jennifer Harhigh who is United States Consul General here. She was the
perfect host to the 28 Loyola University students and Prof Glen as she herself
graduated from Loyola 26 years ago. Over coffee and juice, hot buttery popcorn
and delightful chocolate cookies on the lawns of her palatial home, she told us
(as her young son Victor and dog Lucy listened) much about life in the
diplomatic service. In the first picture the mother of a former student of
mine ran into me quite by chance. She is touring Thailand with her family.
From tomorrow we all start four days of trekking in the mountains of Chiang
Mai. With poor internet connectivity there, you will probably not hear from me.
A happy weekend to you.
