Help other CITIZENS to be better informed about Road Safety & Traffic Management in Goa. ----------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GOACAN to observe Goa Remembrance Week for Road Traffic Victims from Monday 12th November ------------------------------------------------------------------------ GOACAN will observe Goa Remembrance Week for Road Traffic Victims from Monday 12th November to bring focus on the increasing number of deaths & grievous injuries due to road accidents in Goa.
The week long awareness activity will conclude with the theme "Roads have Stories" on 18th November the World Day of Remembrance. It may be noted that Goa which has a 16 lakh resident population and receives over 70 lakh domestic & foreign tourists annually has to cope with over 300 deaths due to road accidents every year. GOACAN through its Road Safety & Traffic Management Campaign has been observing the World Day of Remembrance from 2009 and in a special effort this year is observing the Goa Remembrance Week. During this week GOACAN will reach out to various Govt. Departments & Corporations with the message of Road Safety so as to get a firm commitment of involvement at the end of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020. During the Week, volunteers of Consumer Forums and members of the Village Panchayat & Municipal Council Road Safety & Traffic Management Committees will share messages of Road Safety in their respective neighborhoods. GOACAN during the week will also participate in meetings, site inspections and delegations besides submitting letters of concern & proposals for action to various Govt. agencies.
