WRONG NOTIONS OF GOVERNANCE The FM says the BJP is a sovereign government and implies it can rule despotically, wanting every Institution to bow and be in line with its will! This is a dangerous perception. In a democracy the government is elected to serve for a certain term. There are autonomous Institutions like EC, RBI, CAG, Judiciary, Press meant as checks and balances which the government must not attempt to control in the long term interest of the nation and let them be free to function as per rule of law and the Constitution and not the government's short term view for drastic improvement in their balance sheets, political appeasement and vote banks politics. The IMF has also cautioned the government on the need for operational independence of the Central Bank and its importance in fiscal management of the nation. The Supreme Court is not the place to discuss modalities and operational and fiscal dealings in the Rafael deal. The correct place is Parliament and the SC has not given them a clean chit as is being tom tommed ornot to have a Parliamentary Committee or keep the people in the dark about points the Opposition and NGOs are asking which clearly are not being answered/ blocked from information which is not secret by no stretch of imagination . The people have a right to know the truth!
