SURVELLEINCE AND MOB RULE
Shiroda locals were angry over survellience by a traffic sentinental who
operated from a rented shop selling electronic goods. They managed to find out
that the many challans from the police were due to his reports. The gathered
mob forced the individual to run for his life and the owner to terminate the
lease. This is an example of survellience, rule of law and mob rule! A nation's
character is the sum total of the character of its people. Naseruddin Shah is
pilloried for his perception which is an opinion he has every right to have in
our democracy. He is now deemed an anti national and some Sang Parrivar members
want him to go to Pakistan. The government recent attempt to authorise 10
central agencies including comissioner of police to snoop into everyone's
computers/mobiles liker a "stalker government" would terrify not only
Naseruddin Shah! If the Congress government a decade ago passed such a law and
was indulging in snooping, how does that justify the BJP to do likewise? I may
remind the government that Right To Privacy was not declared as a fundamental
right then and this new contemplated Act with blanket powers under the guise of
national security, just before elections, for obviously silencing oponents and
critics, with only union home secretary approval, and in "emergency" cases,
maybe taken postfacto after 3 days fools no one! Both Congress and BJP/RSS are
ensuring flouting the Supreme Court ruling in the Sabrimala issue, and
promoting mob violence, polarization and hate to win elections. We pray this
Christmas season of love and peace, where Santa Clause overshadows Christ, will
raise human beings to a little degree of true compassion for all fellow humans
and bring some sanity in our nation as a whole!
